Okay, first off, please ignore the quality of the picture here. I don't have a scanner available at the moment, so I just took a picture. Hopefully I'll be able to scan it properly tomorrow and change the pic to not be awful looking, dark around the edges and too bright in the middle. It does show you what the picture looks like, though, so I'll put it up for right now.
EDIT: Okay, properly scanned now! ^_^
This is the second picture in my personified global regions series. My sister reminded me that they're called biomes (I had completely forgotten that word from geography). I know that technically Sea is not a biome, for all you social-studies-savvy kids out there, but it's counting in the series. Most of the others I'm gonna do are biomes or landforms. And Biomes is just too cool a word. So instead of calling it my areas/landforms series, I think I'm gonna go with Biomes.
I really like this one. I wasn't sure I could draw water (and I'm not entirely sure I did), but I did better than I thought I would! And I am so happy with the sky I could bust. I ended up spattering the stars on. I really wanted the look of tons of little tiny stars in the night sky, and I didn't know how to do it. Sometimes I take a white out pen to make stars, but it would have been way too big for the look I wanted. So, I watered down some acrylic paint and loaded up an oil brush (they're best, cause they've got thicker, stiffer bristles) and flicked it at the paper with my finger until I had enough stars. I love them. It was exactly what I was going for, so I'm really happy.
The moon came out really well, too (though you can't see it really in this picture- the scan will be better). When I was coloring white over the dark blue around the moon to make it look like it was shining, it got blue on the white, and I just colored that over the moon to make the craters. It looks really cool.
I knew I wanted her to be a mermaid, but I didn't want her to look like the Disney mermaids. I'm really happy with her tail and the little frill at the top of her tail. I think she may have come out a little more like Disney than I wanted, but I like her enough to not really care. Her hand is running through her hair, I hope you can tell that those are fingers. >_<
Let me know how you like her! The next one is already done with the lineart, I'm in the inking process before coloring. She's looking really cool so far. ^_^
Thanks so much! ^_^ I'm really happy with the top, too. I'm usually terrible at designing clothes, but I really like the clothes on all three of the ones I've done so far. Let's just hope I can keep it up! ^_~
Yeah, I always like to keep them big when there are lots of details. It makes it easier for me to go back and look at any part of it that people critique, and I know I enjoy when other people's works are bigger so I can see them better. If it's a problem for you (I know sometimes they can take a really long time to load), I can downsize this one and all my future ones a bit.
Thanks so much for the fave on this, I really appreciate it!
(P.S.- I love your icon! It's so cute! That bird on Jane's head always makes me laugh!)

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
